The Basis Endowment Foundation (“Basis Foundation”) is a private foundation that energetically focuses on Seed Investments aligned to our mission. Additionally, we serve our community by funding select grant programs. Join our Facebook page to learn more.
Pacific Aviation
The Foundation funded the development of the Lt. Ted Shealy Restoration Shop in Hanger 79 of the Pacific Aviation Museum in honor of Mike's Mom and Dad. |

Smithsonian Institution
The Foundation seeded two spectacular children's programs: Q?rius and BioCube. Each of these programs has activities designed for older children and teens to explore the connections between nature, the planet, the universe, and our lives. Our current seed encompasses 3D DIGITIZING CONVERGENT EVOLUTION IN TOP OCEAN PREDATORS, a program selected by Young Philanthropist, Isabelle, for Curator of Fossil Marine Mammals Dr. Nicholas Pyenson and Peter Buck Postdoctoral Fellow Dr. Neil P. Kelley to investigate how fast and in what sequence marine tetrapod convergence evolved by mapping these similar traits (e.g., paddle-shaped limbs) on individual family trees of whales, ichthyosaurs and other marine tetrapods. . . |
Lucille Packard Children's Hospital
The Foundation has long ties to this incredible hospital in our community. We have been long time donors and have seeded several initiatives, including the Hospital Education Advocacy Liaison (HEAL) program. |
NatureBridge
Through hands-on environmental science programs in nature’s classroom, the organization brings science to life for more than 30,000 children and teens each year. The Foundation has provided See Grants for wildlife cameras used by students at Yosemite, scholarships for high school girls in the Field Science Course at Yosemite and Olympic National Parks, and, as an interlinked Seed Grant, beta testing the Smithsonian's BioCube program. |
